Field Feasibility Study

On January 8, 2024, the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the PCRL Project conducted a meeting to brief on the progress of the PCRL Project since the commencement for H.E Dr. Yang Saing Koma, Secretary of State and Chairperson of PCRL Project Steering Committee (PSC) and to discuss the implementation strategies for the PCRL project implementation. H.E Dr. Yang Saing Koma has provided a recommendation to update the commune target areas as the project was designed almost five years ago, and the selection of the proposed target ACs and CPAs needs to be reviewed and revised to meet the project’s expected outcomes.

During the meeting it was also agreed that during 2024 the PCRL will include support for the conduct of a feasibility study on the formation of a MAC in the Svay Leur district of Siem Reap province and the preparation of initial business plans.

Subsequently, on 11 January 2024, two PCRL Consultants joined the meeting that was conducted in Siem Reap town with 76 farmer representatives from the Kantuot commune, Svay Leur district. The meeting was presided over by H.E Dr. Yang Saing Koma, together with H.E Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State of the MAFF, and H.E. Ing Kim Lieng, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap province for discussion on the concept of establishing a MAC in this commune.

The objective to conduct a feasibility study and draft a business plan based on the field study include: (1) to orient the PDAFF focal points on the series of questionnaires for conducting the field survey, (2) to conduct the field survey with farmers and other value chain actors at the proposed area for establishing a modern AC, and (3) to consolidate the data/information and draft the report.

The result of the feasibility study and draft a business plan will be presented by mid-march 2024 to relevant key stakeholders for further recommendations and actions.
